The NT FilesWindows NT is Microsoft's primary weapon in its effort to expand their monopoly market share beyond the desktop, and into web serving and other high-end enterprise tasks. The company has yet to prevail, but is gaining ground rapidly on the basis of what appears to be a deeply flawed, and frequently oversold, product. This department features brief summaries of revealing articles and editorials on the subject of Windows NT, along with URL links to the complete articles. The material is culled primarily from mainstream press reports, e.g., news services, journals and magazines, but personal experiences and references to factual and responsible freelance web sites are also considered for inclusion. The current NT Files sections are listed to the left. Viewed as a whole, Windows NT's unsuitability for many of tasks for which it is being promoted should become impressively apparent. |
