18 July 1999: The current update to the Whole Microsoft Catalog bring the total number of disclosed deals in the first half of 1999 to 38, more than doubling last year's rapid clip of buyouts and equity investments. We conservatively estimate the total valuation of these deals at $7.5 billion for the first six months of this year alone (that's a rate of over $40 million a day). Not coincidentally, check out some recent additions to the Hall of Innovation (some contributed by a game Microsoft employee).

Readers are encouraged to submit front-page news items via the provided form we've provided. Please follow the instructions!

26 June 1999: With the most recently published updates to the Whole Microsoft Catalog, the number of recorded acquisitions and other deals now exceeds 150. Look also for a newly-posted Dirty Trick.

12 June 1999: The Whole Microsoft Catalog is updated.

23 May 1999: By popular demand, the Whole Microsoft Catalog can now be viewed sorted by year or company name.

10 May 1999: A new article, There's Slick, and then there's SLICK!, from our favorite polemicist, Tom Nadeau, is posted, as well as a significant update to the Whole Microsoft Catalog, thanks to information posted on Microsoft's web site, of all things (a tip of the hat to Tim Farley for locating this page).

3 May 1999: The text of Mitch Stone's address to the "Appraising Microsoft II -- Which Remedies?" conference held on 30 April 1999 in Washington DC and sponsored by Ralph Nader and Essential Information, is posted as a feature article.

27 April 1999: The random quote has been removed from the Site News page, in response to complaints that it produced constant NetMinder "this page has changed" notices. Sorry if this caused any inconvenience. (Today's site news isn't entirely about false alarms -- the Whole Microsoft Catalog was updated and several older Feature Articles were returned to the redesigned site, a process which will continue for another week or so.)

20 April 1999: Look for a new article by Tom Nadeau, revisions to the Righteous Indignation Department and Whole Microsoft Catalog.
