Haunted Sierra Vista
I'd really like to share some of my experiences with you. The question always is, where to begin?
Well, let's just start with the most recent one.
I live in a little town not that far from the Mexican border, in fact,
you've probably heard of it, Sierra Vista, because it is right next to a semi-famous haunt, Fort Huachuca and not
too far from a famous haunt, Tombstone. Some of the buildings in and around Sierra Vista are pretty old themselves,
dating back (as far as I've been able to find out) to almost as old as some of the buildings on Fort Huachuca.
Well, I had worked for quite sometime at a
restaurant just outside of town that people used to joke about "being haunted," although
a few of them were decidedly serious about it. A few of the staff were, in fact, serious about it and didn't
like staying too late. I didn't care too much for it, either, and later I did janitorial work, and often
came in around 4 and 5 in the morning. Naturally, I was curious when I heard about it, but I had already
started coming to my own conclusions by then. There were certain areas of the building that had the distinct
"chill." There were also areas that I observed employees didn't like going into, and would avoid
it, or ask someone to go with them.
My own experiences with this phenomenon are somewhat
mixed and I would even hesitate to guess that there are probably more than one "ghost." The "fields"
are markedly different. My first encounter with "A" was
very early one morning when I went down a very long dark hall to switch the light on in the bathroom.
You probably should know, too, that my mind was as far away as possible from the thought of "the ghost."
At 5
a.m. on a cold morning my thought really was only to get done and go and get some coffee! My feeling
was, literally, panic when I collided with "someone." I was certain that I had run into an intruder,
hiding out. But after the initial shock wore off, logic kicked in. There was no noise, there was no possible
way that someone could have been "locked" into the building, and no one could have gotten in without
the security system going off. And unlike having run into a solid form, I felt sick, woozy, and well, more
like I had been passed through, rather than run into.
So, armed with maybe not necessarily a smart idea to go back and take a look at a possible intruder, I fished out a flashlite, and went back. There was no one there, of course, and from where I had been, no one could have come out without me seeing them. Other people have said that they had experienced feelings of dread, in various areas around the building, and I think that is the presence of "A."
The other character, we'll say "B," is alot more passive and has been noted as friendly and even helpful. Everyone I know who has worked there classes the two together. I don't know, maybe it is and he just has some bad, frustrating days like any of us. But I have had the phone "answered" for me when I was really busy (the answer machine kicks on after about four rings, and it would kick on after the first.) I found items that I couldn't find previously (although, sometimes the opposite was true!) lights went on and off, outlets don't work suddenly (and yes, it has very old wiring-this part could probably be easily explained!) The best demonstration by "B" was, however, one morning, hearing a "whooshing" sound and turned around in time to see a menu bouncing off a display of antique hats and floating slowly to the ground. The menus were on a small shelf , lower than the hats, and quite a few steps away. There was no "air " on, anywhere, and I couldn't duplicate it, even though I tried.
I regret at this point that I have never kept a record of my experiences, here or elsewhere. And, in this case, I have also failed to do my homework: I really don't know the "origins" behind the story of these disturbances other that hearsay. I do know that the building is very old, and so is the story.
There are places in Sierra Vista that are reputed to be haunted. I know of at least two more restaurants, one from another personal experience, and the other related to me by a friend. I don't know of any personal residences.
Anyway, I hope you find this story interesting. I'd be happy to let you know about the other place, and what little I know about the other that was passed along to me.
