Is your home in need of repairs? Does your roof leak? Do you need plumbing, heating or other repairs? Do you need to remodel or accommodate handicapped residents?
In today's financial market, many people cannot afford to borrow money at the prevailing interest rates. As a Simi Valley resident, the City may be able to assist you in
qualifying for the Home Rehabilitation Program. Since 1981, the City has provided loans to approximately 733 households through funds available from the City of Simi Valley
Community Development Agency, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the HOME Program as allocated by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD).
The Program offers amortized low interest and deferred loans to low and median-income homeowners. The maximum amortized low interest loan amount allowable is $30,000 with a
fixed rate of interest to qualifying borrowers of 2%. The maximum deferred payment loan is $30,000 at 2% interest, with no monthly payments, payable when the property is sold, refinanced or changes title. The Home Rehabilitation Coordinator will assist with the following items:
- Identify health and safety hazards in your home;
- Assist the homeowner in the application procedure;
- Design a loan package to fit your budget;
- Help the homeowner obtain estimates from and select a qualified contractor.
