When you call or visit Public Works, it is probably a Front
Counter or Administrative Services employee that you contact first. The Administrative Services Division of Public Works is established to support not only the technical staff in Public Works, but also are
directly in service to the public. Presently, there are 15 employees in the Administrative Services Division, located at both the City Hall and Public Services Center (PSC) sites. Front Counter technical staff are
part of the Development section of the City Engineering Division.
The Administrative Services
Division is responsible for staff support services for seven Public Works divisions, as well as central Administration for the Department. In addition, the Division provides direct staff support to the Director, in
responding to the City Manager's office and to inquiries from Council Members. The areas of direct administrative responsibility are in Finance, Purchasing (including contract administration),
Personnel (including Safety and Risk Management), Payroll, Budgeting, Training and Development, Secretarial/Reception and staff support. There are also annualized special projects in such areas as rate setting, for
example, the annual sewer rate calculation, as well as the Annual Schedule of Service Fees. The Division is also integrally involved in computer operations for the Department, including a Geographic
Information Systems and the Financial Information Systems. |
